Parent Multiplier Program

1_r-x8VbavKLjL6mSSohhjKw

The Parent Multiplier program offers free workshops to newcomers on everything from the health care and daycare systems to preparing for Montreal winters, while encouraging parents to share knowledge with their peers.

Being a new parent isn’t easy, and neither is moving to a new country. It’s even harder during a pandemic! There is a lot of information to learn, and it can feel lonely sometimes.

The Parent Multiplier program was started to help newcomers who live in Peter-McGill* get to know the systems and services that exist for families and support them in sharing information with their peers. Inspired by similar programs in St-Michel and Parc-Extension, the program aims to reach isolated parents in the neighbourhood.

How does the program work?

Parents are invited to attend 5-6 workshops on different topics including Quebec systems (health, school, daycare), preparing for winter, child development, nutrition and Quebec culture and history. Participants will get to know the services and activities in the Peter-McGill district – by the end of the program you’ll be an expert!

Participants are encouraged to pass on the information they learned to their peers, whether in person, by phone or by using social media.

All participants will receive a gift certificate at the end of the program as a thank-you.

Where and when are the workshops offered?

The workshops take place on Fridays for 2 hours. They can be offered in person for a small group, with an online option due to COVID-19; some workshops include an outdoor tour of neighbourhood services. For a full schedule and details, please contact us!
